Volunteers provide transportation for non-emergency medical appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores, farmers’ market and other essential errands.  Five working days’ notice is appreciated, but can schedule rides with less notice.  No cost.  Must be 60 years of age or older. Must be able to enter/exit vehicle independently; cane or walker okay.

Patient services available 7 am – 9 pm, Monday – Friday (cancer patient must place request!).  Volunteers provide transportation for cancer patients to get to treatment and medical appointments, as available.  Four working days’ notice is required.  Patients must be ambulatory.

Full fare cost is $1.50.  Reduced fare for students, seniors, persons with disabilities (with ID or Medicare card) and income-based program is 75 cents.  Children ages 0-5 ride free.  31 Day Passes: Adult $40, students, seniors, disabled and income based program $20; 10 Ride Cards:  Adult $15; students, seniors, persons with disabilities and income-based program $7.50. Rides FREE on Saturdays.

Iowa Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)

Non-emergency medical transportation is coordinated by Iowa’s Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Each of the MCOs has selected a transportation vendor. Members may contact the NEMT broker of their assigned MCO at the numbers below to schedule their NEMT services.

Bus transportation for seniors and persons with disabilities in the Cedar Rapids metro area and the general public in rural Linn County for work, school, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, etc.  Cost is $3.00 each way.

Rides for eligible veterans by referral to the Disabled American Veteran Transportation at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.  Client must have a scheduled appointment at the VAMC when they call.  Appointments can be made by calling 319-339-7061 or the VAMC at 1-800-637-0128 and asking for the DAV van office. Bus passes occasionally available to Cedar Rapids, Marion and Hiawatha. Available Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.

Rides must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.  Weekend and Monday morning rides must be scheduled by 10:00 AM on Friday.  Cost is $6.00 per ride.

Volunteers provide managed transportation for any destination within the Cedar Rapids metro area. System requires each ride request be entered before noon on the business day preceding the ride. Annual fee and pre-paid cost per destination ($6 minimum). Must be 55+ years of age or have a medical condition which prevents driving. Online scheduling available 24/7.

Assistance available during daytime hours, Monday through Friday (no evening service). Transportation provided to area residents, 60 years of age or older through partial funding from Heritage Area Agency on Aging.  The program provides transportation to seniors to allow them to remain living in the community.  There is no cost to participants, please allow a four-day advance notice when requesting services.  Services are limited to older adults living in the Lisbon and Mount Vernon school districts.
