What is ADA eligibility? How do I find out if I am ADA eligible? What is the eligibility process?

The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) has regulations which address access to public transportation in systems funded in part by federal money. CR Transit is funded in part with federal money. As such, CR Transit is responsible to provide Paratransit to individuals within their service area who cannot use the city bus. This service is only provided to those who are accepted as “eligible” by CR Transit. The client must fill out a form, which both documents their condition/disability, and includes professional verification that this individual cannot ride the city bus. This form is submitted to and reviewed by CR Transit. If the individual receives their ADA eligibility, they are then eligible to ride LIFTS. Contact CR Transit at 319-286-5573 or crtransit@cedar-rapids.org
